 To me coastal design is about light, fresh colors, warm retreats and
natural materials. I grew up on the Gulf waters of Terra Ceia Bay and live
on Boston’s North Shore. To me the sea is as sophisticated, alive, vibrant
and varied as the cities and towns that shape coastal living and I bring all
of these influences into my work.
I obtained a bachelors degree in urban and regional planning. After 5 successful years in professional community planning I pursued a career in interior design, participating in Rhode Island School of Design's (RISD) interior design certificate program.
While in New England, I worked with a design firm specializing in national resort, private club, restaurant and high-end residential clientele. In 2005 a move back to Florida sparked the opportunity to start my own firm. I founded Anne Nelson Design, offering high-end residential interior decorating and design services to clients on Florida's gulf coast.
In a short time, I was featured in both SRQ and Sarasota Magazine and rapidly gained a reputation as one of Florida's best young interior decorators, working on premier properties in Tampa Bay on Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. In the Spring of 2009 a move back to Massachusetts sparked the opportunity to service clients in metro Boston and New England.
I live with my husband Jim and son Thomas, love to travel and (when time permits!) relax on
the beach.
